A joint presentation event entitled ‘Blockchain: Back to Basics’ was held at the Sunborn Yacht Hotel, Gibraltar. The event was an initiative led by Digital Asset Management (DAM) and the GSX Group Blockchain Innovation Centre (BIC), and sponsored by TSN Barristers & Solicitors.
Blockchain: Back to Basics
The event was designed to provide a foundational understanding in blockchain to those who may not have had the opportunity to learn about this newly emerging technology and its uses. Local firms were invited to attend, representing all areas of business and financial services in Gibraltar. With an overwhelming response that resulted in a packed out event, over 100 attendees arrived to watch the presentations from representatives of DAM and the BIC, including Gibraltar International bank, Deloitte, Hassans, EY and Sovereign.
In the joint presentation from DAM, Thomas Johnson, Head of Operations and Sam Buxton, CEO focused on the fundamental history and principles of blockchain, its connected cryptocurrencies and the origins of the elusive Satoshi Nakamoto. The presentation also highlighted the core aspects of blockchain functionality including mining, smart contracts, Dapps and common terminology.
The GSX Group Roadmap
As part of the presentation, Kurt Looyens, Business Development Manager at the Gibraltar Stock Exchange Group presented the roadmap of the GSX Group and its strategic move to leverage blockchain technology in its business plan and the creation of the Gibraltar Blockchain Exchange (GBX), which was the culmination of months of work and aims to become a world-leading token sale platform; The GBX-GRID and digital asset exchange; The GBX-DAX, through best practices and good governance.
